A little about me.

My name is Shafter Johnston. I have been hunting and fishing since I was born and I love taking other people to experience the areas that I know. I started guiding in the waters of Georgetown, South Carolina until I decided to move to the Florida Keys to start a mothership business. This mothership exploded in popularity due to multiple television shows with Tom Rowland and Rich Tudor of Saltwater Experience. While filming with them for the first time I met their photographer Jason Stemple who is from Charleston, South Carolina. Jason and I struck up a friendship and many of his articles in magazines highlighted our fishing adventures in the Florida Keys and the Everglades. He was also able to capture many epic moments with me for our friends at Yeti Coolers, True Flies Clothing, Orvis, and several others. I also had the opportunity to film with the great fly fishing show, Silver Kings. Last June, I had the opportunity to sell my mothership business, which gave me the unique chance to take another course in my guiding. I love fishing in the Florida Keys, but really missed having the ability to hunt as much as I wanted. Hunting rivals fishing as my number one passion, but being back close to family was the biggest draw for my wife and me. This led me to decide to return to South Carolina and make this my base for guiding. I will still spend a lot of time with friends fishing the waters of the florida keys and Louisiana. The rest of the time I will be in the marshes of South Carolina sight fishing reds at low tide in the back of creeks and tailing on the high tides in the grass.
