Ask fly fishermen when their favorite time to target redfish on fly in South Carolina is and almost all will tell you during a tailing tide. Our tailing tides occur during the warm months when the high tide is higher than normal and flood into normally dry areas. Redfish will push far back onto the newly flooded grass flats to feed. These fish can be targeted from a skiff but one of the funnest ways is on foot. Catching these tailing redfish while wading is something every fly fisherman should experience.
